CAT Tool Group Project by “Creative Name”

Introduction

This post documents our team’s full-cycle simulation of a real-world CAT-enabled translation project, from initial proposal to delivery. We translated an excerpt from Across the Plains using Trados Studio, memoQ, and custom-built translation resources like a style guide, glossary, and pseudo-translation. I contributed to the proposal, translation, and final presentation, while also gaining hands-on experience with QA strategies, project documentation, and collaboration under deadlines. This project not only reinforced technical skills but also sharpened my understanding of localization workflows in team-based settings.

Specifications:

The Team CAT Project requires a team of students to complete a translation using Trados Studio (and any other technologies deemed necessary). The translation will simulate the experience of translating in a small, in-house translation team or in a small group of associated freelancers.
